Marjorie Jones Competitive Teams
Our Accelerated Class Program offers students the option of participating in Dance Competitions throughout the year and the opportunity to work with professional instructors and highly qualified Guest Artists. The Competition Dancers are a positive representation of the studio, the community, and themselves. Dancrs who participate in competition have the chance to perform several times throughout the year; as well as gaining the experience of rehearsals outside of their technical classroom settings. Competition can help students build character, stage presence, and higher confidence as an individual.
All Accelerated I dancers are required to take 2 weekly classes, Accelerated II is required to take a minimum of 3 weekly classes, and Accelerated III-VI are required to take a minimum of 4 classes each week, plus rehearse outside of class.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will be held on weekends: Fridays 4-6pm, Saturdays 9-4pm, and Sundays 1-3pm at Northwest and Lane Avenue depending on the availability of each studio. Specific times will be posted on the bulletin boards prior to the start of rehearsals. Dancers are expected to attend every rehearsal. Absences and tardies are not expected and need to be cleared by the Instructor. Embergencies will be handled one by one. After three unexcused/excused absences, dancers will not be permitted to participate in the next Competition. Absence notes need to be written and turned in prior to the date missed. Communication with your Instructor is an important key to success.
Competition Dates & Places:
Dates of Competitions will be announced at least thirty (30) days prior to the first Competition; check the bulletin board. The time of each performance will be made available 5-7 days before the competition. Performance may happen on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, so please plan accordingly. We will participate in three competitions throughout the year. The competitions we participate in are generally in Columbus.
